(CNN)The terror attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo newspaper were as brutal as they were efficient. Within minutes, 12 people were dead, 11 more were wounded and the gunmen managed to shoot their way through multiple encounters with police.
This is how the attack and manhunt for the suspects unfolded.
At about 11:30 a.m., the gunmen — who apparently had the wrong address — entered a building two doors down from the offices of Charlie Hebdo, according to the French newspaper Le Monde. “Dressed in black and wearing bullet-proof vests,” they took advantage of the arrival of a postal carrier and pushed their way in, a worker in the building told Le Monde.
The attackers forced the worker and the postal carrier to sit and asked “Where’s Charlie Hebdo?” They shot one bullet through the glass door of an office, Le Monde reported.
